The “Back-to-School” season is upon us and after a well-deserved and much needed summer recharge, I’m ready to be back. This post will be filled with random things that hopefully will be helpful for some fresh ideas for the start of school.
Idea #1 “Who is Your Counselor” Coloring Booklet
Just print this out back and front. Cut down the middle and staple. Now you have a coloring booklet that students color and take home so that the parents also get an introduction. Click here for the coloring booklet.
Idea #2 Cozy Office Space
Whether you are new or seasoned, it’s always fun to spruce up your office as a cozy space for students. You can get some ideas here from my fabulous counseling partner, Shannon Nafe. (Shout out to fabulous work wife of 14 years… whoot!). Here is a link to the cute light-up calm corner sign.
Idea #3 Staff Graffiti Wall for staff connection
Here are the free printouts that you can put on some butcher paper and have some low-pressure staff engagement. Everyone has a show or book they enjoyed lately. It’s an easy way to have some “staff bonding”… and my staff readily added on to the graffiti wall while they are making copies in the mailroom or just passing through.
