Well, I fixed that real quick and immediately increased student engagement. Games are great for lessons and groups of course.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve always used games in teaching the &#8220;Power of Yet&#8221; in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Mindset-Matters-Lisa-King\/dp\/1937870405\/ref=sr_1_4?crid=CUPKWMRANRNT&amp;keywords=mindset+matters&amp;qid=1674606772&amp;sprefix=mindset+matters%2Caps%2C115&amp;sr=8-4\" title=\"\">Mindset Matters<\/a>, but the truth is that games are fun. And research shows that humans get a big dopamine hit not only in winning a game, but in hoping to &#8220;win&#8221;. I actually have 2 of them so we can do tournaments in group.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/presentation\/d\/1FN_sb4XfFJCzUlSe17J_zgrLriEDmnJM\/edit?usp=share_link&amp;ouid=100833190427711601767&amp;rtpof=true&amp;sd=true\" title=\"\">Guessing Game: What is the Subject of the Lesson: <\/a>Check out this  has disappearing blocks. Put an image of what the lesson topic is and arrange the image to &#8220;move backward&#8221; in the slide. It&#8217;s a great hook for a lesson.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jeopardy (I&#8217;m working on a general template, but there are plenty out there). I typically teach for about 10 minutes and let the <strong>students take notes on their desks with dry erase marker.<\/strong> Then when we play, they can refer back to their notes and also keep score on their desks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3ltoplf\" title=\"\">Eggspert<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Educational-Insights-7883-Eggspert\/dp\/B001SN8DE8\/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3MUANA7N79RX7&amp;keywords=EGGSPERT&amp;qid=1674605737&amp;sprefix=eggspert%2Caps%2C132&amp;sr=8-2\"> <\/a>( Can do this as a gameshow in a class, centers, or small groups. I have had more teachers ask to borrow this than any other item in my room)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Stickman or Spaceman (what we as kids called hangman) I like to start lessons with this so that they can guess the subject of the lesson<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3yKLxyL\" title=\"\">Giant Jenga<\/a> Put stickers on some pieces and if they take out that block, students have to answer a question.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Four Corners (I do this with empathy, peer pressure, and responsibility&#8230; again ask if you want deets)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pick a Card Any Card: Write some questions on index cards about the lesson, as well as some silly challenges, and one card that says PRIZE. Good listeners are periodically ask to &#8220;Pick a Card Any Card&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/406fOno\" title=\"\">Wheel of Fun<\/a> (enough said&#8230; ask me more if you want this explained, but see photo above).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lisakingcounselor.com\/index.php\/2018\/05\/02\/peer-pressure-lesson-mm-guessing-game\/\" title=\"Peer Pressure Lesson: M&amp;M Guessing Game\">M &amp; M Game teaching about Peer Pressure <\/a> (this is my most popular blog post and a great lesson!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are reading this far, I hope you are inspired to add a game to your next lesson.
