Kids love it for oodles of reasons: they bond\u00a0with the other &#8220;new kids&#8221;, they love being selected for a special lunch, and this is a great way for me to establish a rapport with them.<\/p>\n<p>Also, click\u00a0here for\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/lisakingcounselor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/New-Student-needs-assessment.docx\">New Student needs assessment<\/a>.<\/span> (Thanks Shannon Scepaniak for creating it!)<\/p>\n<h1><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">WELCOME TEAM<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>This is a team that is established about the 3rd or 4th week of school.\u00a0A Welcome Team consists of 2 kids\u00a0per class that come and greet\u00a0new students on their first day of school. You know the situation&#8230;. a student enrolls mid-day and the school secretary calls into the class that a new student is here. Cue&#8230; the Welcome Team Members from that class. Kindergartners are obviously too young for this&#8230; but 1st graders feel oh-so important to be able to do this. Click here for a <a href=\"https:\/\/lisakingcounselor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Welcome-Team-letter.doc\">Welcome Team letter<\/a>\u00a0we send home to parents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>At the training session Welcome Team members receive:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A folder to keep in their class with the following contents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0A list of their responsibilities, classroom routine questions they can explain to the new student, and a Welcome Bingo that they can use as a guide when giving the new student a tour of the school.
